Against last night’s prediction the British people have voted to leave the European Union. At this moment, with 20 electoral results yet to be declared, the Leave are just 300,000 votes short to declare they won the referendum.

Last night UKIP leader Nigel Farage stated that the remain campaign “edged it” giving the impression that Britain opted to stay in the EU but as the night unfolded and vote tallies announced, there was an anti EU trend in many parts of England especially in the north of the country.

In London, Scotland and Gibraltar people voted strongly to stay in the EU. Voters in Wales backed Brexit in large numbers.

Latest predictions indicate 52% have voted to leave the Union. Britain has been a member of the EU for 43 years.
