In a strongly worded sentence, Magistrate Francesco Depasquale expressed indignation at a newspaper report carried in the PN mouthpiece In-Nazzjon targeting the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff linking him to a man who ran away from Malta after failing to pay his debts with his business creditors.

Is this Simon’s new way of doing politics?

Keith Schembri won the libel suit he filed against In-Nazzjon for a piece penned by their senior journalist Joe Micallef. This kind of journalism is doing more harm to the journalist himself said Magistrat Depasquale when the PN tried to imply that Keith Schembri had business links with Ryan Schembri.

The Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff denied the report and denied having business links with his cousin. The newspaper was ordered to pay €5,000 in damages to Keith Schembri.

In his reaction to this sentence on Twitter Keith Schembri noted “Court confirms PN was only interested in lying about me to harm government. Simon Busuttil’s lies and politics of the past exposed”.

Keith said it all for all of us.

It seems the PN has not learnt any lesson.
