Simon silent as Claudio Grech denies trying to silence a whistleblower
Updated: Sep 21
While Simon Busuttil has kept silent on this latest controversy surrounding his Parliamentary Group, Claudio Grech has denied claims made by John’s Garage CEO Christopher Farrugia that in the run up to the 2013 general election he (Claudio Grech) tried to silence or urge Chris Farrugia to disassociate himself from the oil scandal story.
In a affidavit presented to Court by Chris Farrugia himself, John’s Garage CEO states “Bernard Pace (Member of Austin Gatt’s team) had requested a meeting. When he came into my office, he told me that I was damaging Austin Gatt and that Claudio Grech – renowned to be in league with Austin Gatt – was waiting in the car beneath my office. Grech asked me to disassociate myself from the story, but I refused and reminded him that the details were already in the public domain. I also reminded him that I came from a Nationalist family, and that the party chose to stick its neck out for George Farrugia, rather than for us.”
Claudio Grech has also said today that he will file a libel suit against Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and newspaper Kulhadd for reporting Chris Farrugia’s affidavit.
The Nationalist MP says that it is not true that he tried to silence Farrugia, but for sure he is trying to silence others, including the Prime Minister from referring to Chris Farrugia’s affidavit.
In the meantime, Simon Busuttil’s silence is remarkable in this case ass it was last week on Tonio Fenech.
