SimonPN towers of confusion

Funny how these PN people are up in arms over the towers in the old Union Club area. Some accurate checking of history will reap certain results.

Joe Gasan applied for and got a permit from a PN government to essentially pull down the Union Club including what was a grand entrance room and where was Briguglio and bella compania in those PNyears?

This was certainly part of old and pseudo British Sliema and it went down without too much of a whimper. That area was clearly changed so tower blocks would one day start over there.

Simon can huff and puff but it is his government that blew the Union Club down and so started the inevitable processor of what we are seeing today.

And yes the process of bringing down the old houses was of course initiated by Sliema families themselves who started making themselves tidy fortunes by converting and mainly demolishing their old homes to make way for apartments.

Some are wondering why more Sliema people are not protesting. It seems obvious that it is Sliema people themselves who changed Sliema and made themselves a fortune in the process. Of course some just supplied lifts to these blocks like the Vella family, they are all part of it and profited from it, no doubt about that

Opinion is divided on this issue but don’t make silly political points Simon, when you gave us so many ugly developments around Malta and Gozo during the not so grand days of GonziPN.
