DCG smearing Malta abroad: An important note to the editors of EU Observer

Daphne Caruana Galizia has taken it upon herself to smear Malta’s reputation abroad on behalf of the Nationalist.

Today she penned – and signed – an article for the EU Observer claiming wrongly that the Maltese PM is “battling” for his survival. This heading alone is already misleading, aimed at trying to fuel uncertainty for investors who are looking to invest in Malta. The PM is

battling for his survival. We can safely say Joseph Muscat’s leadership has brought one of the most successful years Malta has ever had and is considered by the Economist as a model for social democrats and other governments in Europe

Let’s give some facts to put this piece of rehashed “news” article some perspective:

FACT No1:

The Prime Minister’s majority of 8 more members of Parliament is safe and intact. The government will win emphatically the confidence vote on Friday and will be governing this country for the rest of the term.

FACT No2:

It was a “protest” organised by the Opposition party. In Malta, such protests happen in every legislature. During the years in Opposition, Muscat’s Labour Party had organised public protests against exorbitant energy bills which were double the size of what the Nationalist Party had this Sunday. No one had claimed the PN was fight for its survival, despite have a one seat majority.

FACT No3:

Daphne Caruana Galizia is not a journalist. She is a PN propagandist who has only one agenda – to smear and fabricate story against anyone who dares vote Labour. She lied about several government ministers, while she conceals information about the PN politicians.

FACT No4:

Her only news story on Panama came because her son works for ICIJ. Whilst hundreds of journalists were working tirelessly on the story and keeping it until the leaks are revealed, she started hinting that she had the information several weeks ago. Can this be described as a case of revealing information which her son was working on for the ICIJ?

FACT No5:

We can safely say that Daphne Caruana Galizia invented the persons she claims to have interviewed at the rally. Their quotes are just more rehash of PN propaganda.

Interestingly, despite ghost-writing a number of articles for foreign media, it is the first time she is signing an article in a foreign website.

One word of advice to the EU Observer: Everyone in Malta takes Caruana Galizia with a huge pinch of salt. She is nothing more than a gossip blogger who thrives on the fact that she smears Labour personalities in the most blatant of forms.

If you don’t want to descend to her pathetic levels of hate and bile, ditch her right away. She is not a good source for impartial and serious journalism.
